India Talkies - 'Dil Se...'

India Talkies - A movie studio co-created by Mani Ratnam, Ram Gopal Varma, Shekhar Kapoor, sometime post Bandit Queen (1994). They decided to do one movie each under the banner. The first and only film to come out has been 'Dil Se..' (1998).

Maniratnam initially pitched the idea, which later became Alaipayudhey (later remade in Hindi as Saathiya with Vivek Oberoi, Rani Mukherjee) to be made with Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. But eventually, decided to make Dil Se...

It was Preity Zinta's film debut (who was already famous through her Liril ad). Though it didn't do well domestically, it was the first Indian movie to enter top 10 in UK.

Tigmanshu Dhulia (Ramadhir Singh from Gangs of Wasseypur, Director: Paan Singh Tomar, Haasil, etc.) is credited with dialogues and was also casting director.

First time, Pangong Tso lake in Ladakh appeared in a movie!

It was made more famous by 3 idiots climax scene.

Most importantly, the movie is remembered for one of the greatest soundtracks of all time!!
